Hydraulics, Hydrology, & Environmental Engineering

Urban centers are becoming denser and more populated. This, in turn, is increasing the risk of improperly graded sites and flooding damage.

Stormwater and floodplain management will continue to be vital to ensure the success of our cities.

As an environmental engineering company, Benchmark Design Group has extensive experience in the public and private sectors.

The breadth of our experience allows them to provide client-oriented solutions for even the most difficult challenges.

Whether you’re in the design phase or have begun construction, Benchmark can help.

Hydrologic & Hydraulic Modeling

Hydrologic and hydraulic models (H&H) are often used together to provide a complete picture of water movement. For example:

A hydrologic model predicts runoff from a watershed, which is then used as input for a hydraulic model to simulate how that runoff flows through a river or drainage system.

This integration is critical for designing infrastructure like stormwater systems, flood control measures, or reservoirs that account for both watershed runoff and channel flow dynamics. H&H modeling is essential for designing resilient infrastructure, ensuring public safety, and complying with environmental regulations in civil and environmental engineering projects.

Flood Control and Stormwater Management

Benchmark's team of professionals has designed drainage systems, flood control structures, and stormwater management solutions to mitigate flooding and erosion. They have worked on floodplain modeling, remediation, and reclamation systems, both large and small. These have been planned and designed in ways that implement climate-resilient infrastructure to adapt to changing environmental conditions.

Environmental Engineering

Benchmark Design Group is available to provide a variety of environmental assistance.

In addition to providing cursory wetlands evaluations and stormwater pollution prevention planning, we can also assist in the T&E species coordination. While we do not perform Phase I, II, and III ESAs or geotechnical investigations, we can recommend reputable firms that can provide that service.

Water Distribution

Water distribution refers to the process of delivering treated, potable water from treatment facilities or storage reservoirs to end users through a network of pipes, pumps, and valves. In civil and environmental engineering, it involves designing and maintaining efficient, reliable systems to ensure consistent water supply while minimizing losses and meeting demand. These systems are critical for public health, fire protection, and supporting urban and industrial activities.

No matter your community’s water challenges, we can help.

Wastewater Collection

Wastewater collection is the process of gathering used water from homes, businesses, and industries through a network of pipes and sewers. This system transports wastewater to treatment facilities to remove contaminants before safe disposal or reuse. It plays a critical role in maintaining public health and environmental protection.

Benchmark Design Group’s engineering team can help devise a cost-effective system that meets your community’s needs.
